The Growing Money Program of CVOEO offers free financial education classes and individual financial coaching to residents of Chittenden, Addison, Franklin and Grand Isle counties. Three classes are offered on a repeating basis: "Spend Smart," "Keys to Credit," and "Creating a Financial Future." Classes address financial goal setting, expense tracking, budgeting, creating an emergency fund, building credit, avoiding predatory lenders, dealing with debt, building long-term savings, investing, and more! We also offer the opportunity to view your credit report and score and discuss steps to improve your credit picture. All services through the program are free to low/moderate income Vermonters. |

The School Bank Program is geared separately for young children and teens. The program for elementary students focuses on ways to earn money, savings, budgeting skills, and other basic banking skills. The teen program provides lessons on credit and how to prevent identity theft. Free adult community workshops are available on basic banking, retirement planning, affordable housing, identity theft, credit, and budgeting. |

Utilizing educational materials and curriculum endorsed by the American Bankers Association and the FDIC, TD Banknorth financial literacy presentations are available free-of-charge to any school, after school program and youth or community organization. Each financial literacy session takes about one hour to complete. Inquiries and arrangements for presenters are coordinated through the Public Affairs Officer. Employees from all of TD Banknorth's offices regularly participte in financial literacy efforts. |

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army provides financial mentoring and education through individual counseling sessions and workshops. Financial Literacy materials they use include the Annie E. Casey Foundation's "Money Pals/Being Cool with Cash" (ages 8-11) and "I Know Where I'm Going/But Will My Cash Keep Up?" (ages 12-15); and the NEFE High School Financial Planning Program (ages 13-18). The Salvation Army also uses the FDIC "Money Smart" modules (ages 18+). Financial education additionally is provided for individuals who have just moved to the U.S. and need help with the money system. |

CCCS provides education programs statewide on a variety of financial literacy topics. Program presentation topics include budgeting, saving, wise credit use, debt management, rebuilding credit, basic banking, credit reports and scores, buying a car, home ownership, and identity theft. CCCS also offers a 12-lesson financial literacy course entitled "Credit When Credit is Due." The majority of programs are offered for at no charge. Individual financial counseling is available in-person, over the phone or via the internet. |
