National Organizations Tap Skills of Vermont State Treasurer Pearce

January 23, 2012

MONTPELIER, Vt.—Two national fiscal organizations have appointed Vermont State Treasurer Beth Pearce to key administrative positions.

The National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA) has appointed Pearce to serve as Senior Vice President. The mission of NAUPA is to promote and support excellence and professionalism among those individuals charged with the responsibilities of unclaimed property administration and compliance.

Pearce also recently accepted an appointment to the Executive Committee of the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers, and Treasurers (NASACT). NASACT was founded in 1915 to allow principal state officials concerned with state financial management to gather annually and discuss problems and issues of mutual interest. NASACT addresses issues of education, training, technology, best practices and collaboration.

“It is gratifying to assist two organizations that advocate for financial excellence and provide opportunities for those working in these areas to increase their skills and professional knowledge,” said Pearce.

Pearce also was recently selected as one of ten notable women featured by The Bond Buyer in a special supplement on trailblazing women in public finance. Pearce has 31 years of experience working in public finance. She was appointed Vermont’s State Treasurer in January, 2011 after serving for more than seven years as Deputy Treasurer.

Prior to joining the Vermont State Treasurer's Office, she served as Deputy Treasurer for Cash Management at the Massachusetts State Treasurer's Office; Deputy Comptroller for the Town of Greenburgh, New York; and as the Accounting Manager and Financial Operations Manager for the Town of West Hartford, Connecticut.
