The Growing Money Program of CVOEO offers free financial education classes and individual financial coaching to residents of Chittenden, Addison, Franklin and Grand Isle counties. Three classes are offered on a repeating basis: "Spend Smart," "Keys to Credit," and "Creating a Financial Future." Classes address financial goal setting, expense tracking, budgeting, creating an emergency fund, building credit, avoiding predatory lenders, dealing with debt, building savings, first time investing, and more! We also offer the opportunity to view your credit report and score, access tools to increase your score, and to create easy, clear steps to improve your credit picture. All services through the program are free to low/moderate income Vermonters. Please call to set up an appointment and/or for a class schedule.

Educational workshops are available upon request statewide. Monthly workshops are offered on budgeting and savings, understanding credit, credit repair, homeownership, predatory lending, & basic financial services. Credit counseling is also offered and is specifically tailored to individual circumstances to aid in changing financial behavior. Services are at no charge.

Details
The School Bank Program is geared separately for young children and teens. The program for elementary students focuses on ways to earn money, savings, budgeting skills, and other basic banking skills. The teen program provides lessons on credit and how to prevent identity theft. Free adult community workshops are available on basic banking, retirement planning, affordable housing, identity theft, credit, and budgeting.

TD Bank

Details
The TD Bank WOW! Zone is an online, interactive learning tool for children and teens and provides valuable information about money, saving, banking and investing. TD Bank WOW! Zone also provides grade appropriate lesson plans for educators on a range of financial topics and gives parents helpful suggestions for talking to kids about money. Inquiries and arrangements for presenters are coordinated through the Public Affairs Officer. Employees from all of TD Bank's offices regularly participate in financial literacy efforts.

The Salvation Army

Resource for Adults and Families
Details
The Salvation Army provides financial mentoring and education through individual counseling sessions and workshops. Financial Literacy materials used include the Annie E. Casey Foundation's "Money Pals/Being Cool with Cash" (ages 8-11) and "I Know Where I'm Going/But Will My Cash Keep Up?" (ages 12-15); and the NEFE High School Financial Planning Program (ages 13-18). The Salvation Army also uses the FDIC "Money Smart" modules (ages 18+). Financial education additionally is provided for individuals who have just moved to the U.S. and need help with the money system.

Free workshops and seminars are available on a range of financial topics statewide including budgeting, debt management, credit cards, credit reports and scores, and homebuying. Women Helping Battered Women

Details
People needing money management assistance will receive referral help to financial education providers, including credit counseling. The organization serves people who have experienced intimate partner violence by providing advocacy at and referrals to numerous community and social service resources. All services are free, confidential and open to all.
