There are many opportunities to invest your money and build a financial portfolio  that will help you meet your personal goals. A key to sound investing is evaluating the risks and rewards of a potential investment. You also must consider how much risk you can potentially take on. Evaluating the goals of your investment activities is a important part of the choices you will make.

New York Stock Exchange
The NYSE Group has assembled educational articles and resources that explain basic concepts and questions of interest to investors.

Investopedia
Investopedia provides a wealth of information for beginner, experienced and active traders. A simulated stock trading account can be set up where you can experience stock trading without the risk.

The Investor's Clearinghouse
The Alliance for Investor Education is dedicated to facilitating greater understanding of investing, investments and the financial markets among current and prospective investors of all ages.

Financial Industry Regulatory Authority
FINRA registers member firms, writes rules to govern their behavior, examines them for compliance, and disciplines those that fail to comply. Its membership includes more than 5,000 brokerage firms and 665,000 securities professionals. The site includes a section on investor education, including investor alerts, resources, investor protection information, and tools.

U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission
The SEC’s Office of Investor Education and Advocacy provides a variety of services and tools to address the problems and questions you may face as an investor. We cannot tell you what investments to make, but we can help you to invest wisely and avoid fraud.

Investor Protection Trust
Since its founding in 1993, the Investor Protection Trust has been a leader in non-commercial investor education in the United States. IPT education efforts include Financial Literacy 2010, a web-based program directed to high school personal, finance and economics instructors.

Beginner's Guide to Investing
The U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission offers a variety of helpful publications and information sites to answer questions for the beginning investor.
