Details
The Growing Money Program of CVOEO offers free financial education classes and individual financial coaching to residents of Chittenden, Addison, Franklin and Grand Isle counties. Three classes are offered on a repeating basis: "Spend Smart," "Keys to Credit," and "Creating a Financial Future." Classes address financial goal setting, expense tracking, budgeting, creating an emergency fund, building credit, avoiding predatory lenders, dealing with debt, building savings, first time investing, and more! We also offer the opportunity to view your credit report and score, access tools to increase your score, and to create easy, clear steps to improve your credit picture. All services through the program are free to low/moderate income Vermonters. Please call to set up an appointment and/or for a class schedule.

Resource for Teens and Adults
Details
Individual money management counseling is offered to credit union members on such topics as budgeting and debt management. Employees also are available to present in area schools on financial management. Curriculum used includes the National Endowment for Financial Education High School Financial Planning Program. Financial education services are free.

Details
The bank offers financial literacy programs that include the FDIC MoneySmart Program, Teach Children to Save Day, and Get Smart About Credit program. Teachers may receive special accounting publications. Classroom presentations are provided on deposit accounts and credit history. Parent volunteers run a school house saving program. Programs for older adults include a secure shred day, fraud seminars and a monthly newsletter.

A home buyer education workshop helps prepare participants to purchase a home. Topics covered include budgeting and credit, assessing your readiness to buy and getting a mortgage loan. Cost is $50 per person or $60 per household.

Details
Services are offered to residents of Addison county through the Montpelier office. Free workshops and seminars are available statewide on a range of financial topics including budgeting, debt management, credit cards, credit reports and scores, and home-buying. Guest speakers also are available for groups and schools. Web-based financial literacy programs for elementary, middle and high school youth are available through the credit union web site.
