Advisory: Treasurer Pieciak Announces Public Meetings to Discuss Financing Vermont’s Climate Infrastructure

Montpelier, VT - State Treasurer Mike Pieciak will hold a series of virtual events for public stakeholder engagement to hear challenges, ideas and strategies for financing Vermont’s climate infrastructure. 

“As Vermont continues to recover from the devastating impacts of the July flooding, we must ensure that our state is equipped with the resources to support resilience, mitigation, and green energy,” said Treasurer Pieciak. “I welcome the input of Vermonters into this process to help create a more resilient future for our state, environment and economy.”

The virtual events will be held in connection with a legislative directive for the Treasurer to consider frameworks that would maximize collaboration and resources among state, federal, private and nonprofit entities to mitigate the impacts of climate change in Vermont.

Members of the media are welcome to attend these meetings. We encourage individuals to select and attend stakeholder meetings based on their respective areas of expertise, ensuring that each meeting benefits from a diverse range of insights and perspectives.

The Treasurer’s Office will be accepting written comments through Friday, November 3, 2023 and may be submitted to: Tre.ClimateFinance@vermont.gov. The Treasurer will report findings and recommendations to the Legislature by January 15, 2024.
